Who is responsible
Defin operates this website, news.defin.vc. You can reach us at info@defin.vc.
What happens when you read the site
Like every website, the web server of our hosting provider records technical data about each request in its server logs: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser and device type your browser reports, and the response status. We use this to keep the site running and secure (legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are kept by our hosting provider, FastComet, for the time its own policy sets. We do not combine them with other data and we do not use them to identify readers.
What the site does not do
There are no cookies, no analytics, no trackers and no advertising. Reading a page makes no request to any third party: the fonts are served from our own server. Links to articles lead to the publishers' sites, and only when you click them.
Settings in your browser
The site remembers your choices (language, light or dark theme, the topics and regions you selected) in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, are not sent to us, and you can delete them in your browser settings.
Links to other sites
Articles open on the publishers' own sites, where their privacy policies apply.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask for access to personal data about you, for its correction or deletion, and for restriction of its processing, and you may object to it. You may also complain to the data protection authority of your country. Write to info@defin.vc. A server log entry cannot be linked to a person without that person's help, so we may ask for your IP address and the time of your visit to find it.
Changes
We update this notice when the way the site handles data changes. The date of the last update is shown at the top.
